Led by specialist Dany Gomez, we design technical lighting layouts and run optical audits for art galleries, drafting offices, and boutique lobbies. Our work focuses on precise lumen distribution, non-flicker LED spectrums, and indirect fixture positioning that keeps reflective glare off technical display surfaces.
Our Path
The studio grew out of a simple frustration: technical spaces were being lit with decorative intent, not optical precision. Each phase below shaped how we measure, test, and position light today.
In 2016, Dany Gomez was asked to fix the glare on a single exhibition wall in a small Johannesburg gallery. The solution was a set of hand-aimed track heads and a custom dimming curve. That job defined our core method: measure first, then position.
By 2019 we had invested in a portable spectroradiometer and a set of calibrated reference surfaces. This let us test LED spectrums for flicker and color consistency on site, not just in manufacturer datasheets. Drafting offices became a regular client base.
In 2021 we formalized our walkthrough procedure for lobbies and reception areas. The audit now includes luminance mapping at eye level and a written report with target ratios. Boutique hotels and corporate entrances rely on this process to avoid reflective hotspots.
A recurring issue in technical offices was invisible flicker causing fatigue. We started testing every fixture with a high-speed camera before installation. This step is now standard for all CAD labs and precision workshops we work with.
Reflected glare on varnished artwork and polished stone pushed us to develop a library of indirect mounting angles. We now simulate each layout in photometric software before a single fixture is ordered, cutting rework time by half.
Across the last two years, our audits have reduced reported glare by an average of 35 percent in lobbies and improved color rendering scores by 10 points in gallery settings. These numbers come from follow-up measurements we take after every installation.
